Everything we take on

Every job below is one we do ourselves across El Paso.

Deck Installation

We dig footings below El Paso's caliche layer so the deck doesn't heave when the soil shifts. Joists get spaced and sized to the actual span, not guessed at, and the ledger board is flashed before the first board goes down.

Deck Repair

Soft spots, bouncy joists and rusted hardware usually mean the frame underneath has taken on water. We pull the bad boards, check the joists and hangers behind them, and only replace what's actually failed.

Deck Staining & Sealing

El Paso sun dries out wood fast and UV breaks down old finish within a couple of summers. We strip and sand back to bare grain before applying a penetrating stain that soaks in instead of sitting on top and peeling.

Custom Deck Design

We lay out multi-level decks, built-in benches and stairs to grade around how you actually use the yard. Everything gets drawn out and priced before we cut lumber, so there's no guessing at the finished layout.

Deck Railing Installation

Baluster spacing has to stay under 4 inches to pass code, and the top rail has to take real weight, not just look sturdy. We install wood, cable and powder-coated aluminum rail, anchored into the frame, not just the decking.

Composite Decking Installation

Composite boards get hidden fastener clips and a gap left between boards for heat expansion, since El Paso summers will buckle anything installed tight. No staining or sealing afterward, which is the point for most people switching over from wood.

Deck Board Replacement

Sometimes it's a handful of warped or cracked boards, not the whole deck. We pull and replace individual boards, matching the color and profile as close as we can if the rest has already weathered.

Deck Framing & Structural Repair

A deck that flexes when you walk across it usually has an undersized beam or a post base that's rusted through. We sister joists, swap out rotted posts and reset footings that have settled unevenly.

Pergolas & Deck Covers

A pergola or shade cover attaches into the existing deck framing, not just screwed to the decking boards. We size the rafters for real shade and, if you want it, add louvers or shade cloth for the afternoon sun.

Deck Demolition & Removal

We tear out an old deck down to the footings, check whether those footings are still good to build on, and haul off every scrap of lumber and old fastener. That's usually the first step before a rebuild, not a separate job.

How It Works

Four steps, and no surprises in any of them.

01

We come and look

You tell us what you want doing, we look at what is actually there, and we ask the awkward questions early.

02

You get a price

In writing, itemised, free. If something might add cost later we flag it now rather than at the end.

03

We do the work

Same crew throughout. We cover your floors, keep the dust down and tidy up before we leave each day.

04

We walk it with you

You point out anything you are not happy with and we fix it before the invoice, not after.

Common Questions

Things worth asking

Questions that come up once a deck project is actually underway.

Do I need a permit to build a deck in El Paso?
El Paso requires a building permit for most deck construction, especially decks attached to the house or built more than 30 inches above grade. A licensed contractor can pull the permit and schedule the required inspections as part of the job.
How long does it take to build a deck?
A standard single-level deck usually takes one to two weeks from footings to final board, depending on size and weather delays. Multi-level decks with built-in seating or a pergola attached can run three to four weeks.
Can a deck be built within a specific budget?
Deck size, railing material and decking type can all be adjusted to fit a target budget without cutting corners on footings or framing. Composite decking costs more than pressure-treated pine but skips the recurring cost of staining.
Is the work guaranteed?
Workmanship on deck framing, footings and railings is typically covered under a written warranty period, separate from the manufacturer's warranty on composite or wood materials. Exact terms should be spelled out in the contract before work starts.
Who handles the project day to day?
On most deck jobs, the same crew that measures the yard and pours the footings does the framing and finish work, giving one point of contact through the whole build. Schedule changes, like a weather delay, get communicated directly rather than through a call center.
What decking materials are available?
Common decking materials include pressure-treated pine, cedar, and composite brands like Trex or TimberTech, each with different maintenance and lifespans. Pine requires restaining every two to three years in El Paso's sun, while composite requires none.
Can I still use my yard while the deck is being built?
Most of the yard stays usable during a deck build, though the immediate work area needs to stay clear of foot traffic and pets while footings are poured and framing goes up. Access for equipment and material delivery is usually the bigger disruption.
How should the site be prepared before work starts?
Clearing furniture, potted plants and grills off the existing deck or build area lets the crew get straight to demolition or footing work on day one. Marking sprinkler lines and underground utilities ahead of time also speeds things up.
What happens if rot or bad framing turns up once the old deck is torn out?
Hidden rot, undersized joists or a cracked footing sometimes only show up once the old decking is pulled off, and that gets flagged before any new framing goes on top of it. Extra cost to fix it is quoted separately rather than folded into the original price.
How should a new deck be maintained once it's finished?
Wood decks should be restained every two to three years in a climate as sunny as El Paso's, plus a yearly check for loose fasteners or gaps opening at the ledger board. Composite decking just needs an occasional wash to keep dust and pollen out of the grain.
